Radiation in nature comes in many forms; here, we're referring to electromagnetic radiation.

For appliances, the main impact on humans is magnetic radiation.

Electromagnetic radiation is divided into two levels.

The units for the industrial frequency band are μT, and the test covers industrial electromagnetic waves below 50 Hz frequency (such as household appliances and high-voltage lines).

If radiation above 0.4μT is considered strong radiation.

Radiation levels are between 0.3 and 0.4 μT, falling within the warning threshold.

Regarding the 0.3μT and especially below 0.1μT, it can be considered safe.

The unit for radio frequency electromagnetic waves is μW/cm² (e.g., microwave ovens, mobile phones, base stations for broadcasting and television).

Typically, the frequencies tested range from hundreds to thousands of hertz.

Above 10μW/cm² can be harmful to humans.

        

Television: Traditional Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Televisions:

Within a half-meter radius, upon normal activation, it emits a radiation value of 0.12μT.

The radiation level during normal viewing is 0.30μT.

During the switch, the value was 0.27 μT.

The standby state is 0.11μT.

On the side, the radiation value is 0.28μT when viewed normally.

The positive 3-meter radiation has a significant degree of attenuation.

Table lamp, its radiation value is 0.17μT.

The test results for the fluorescent lights are as follows: Master bedroom: 0.12μT, Living room: 0.18μT, Study room: 0.11μT.

Microwave oven door seams emit radiation, so detailed testing was conducted.

Test results indicate that microwave ovens emit radiation upon startup (approximately 18 to 22 μW/cm²).

Protective clothing:

The human body itself is a large conductor.

Wearing it only transfers the shielded radiation into the human body.

And currently, there is no clear standard for the material of protective suits.

In July 1993, World Vision magazine also highlighted that electromagnetic waves can weaken human immunity and reduce the number of white blood cells that combat cancer cells. A child under 15 living in a room with a magnetic induction intensity of 0.3μT has a 4 times higher likelihood of developing leukemia compared to a child of the same age in general.

In January 1997, scientists at the Karolinska University in Stockholm, Sweden, conducted a survey of 430,000 residents who had long-term exposure to high-voltage transmission lines and published their research findings. The scientists clearly stated that there is a direct link between electromagnetic waves and cancer, particularly brain tumors and childhood leukemia. Lennart Frejberg, the head of the Mechanical Department at Lund University, said that among the employees working there, six cancer patients were found, four of whom were caused by electromagnetic radiation due to their daily exposure to an environment with a magnetic induction intensity as high as 40μT.
