A concern within our ceramic tile community: How much does a square meter of ceramic tiles cost?
How much is a square meter of tiles? For plain tiles alone, search results on the internet show prices ranging from 120 to 500 yuan. What factors influence the price of tiles? Currently, the price of tiles is mainly determined by the following aspects (80% of the price factors): order quantity, color, size (thickness, width, length), design, brand, and more. We will also expose the real prices of tiles based on these factors.
Porcelain tile prices are directly related to the order quantity, which is quite understandable. Since porcelain tiles were introduced from overseas to the domestic market starting in 2006-2007, they have always been customized products, unlike tiles or marble which have standard stock. Therefore, each batch of orders is generally produced on-site by the manufacturer. The transition to a new product requires re-cleaning of the extrusion equipment and re-controlling of the kiln atmosphere, resulting in higher production costs each time. Additionally, if your porcelain tile design requires new molds, the manufacturer will allocate this cost to the total cost, as the saying goes, "the cost comes from the product itself." If the order quantity is less than 1,000 square meters, the product price is generally 200 yuan and above. Generally, when the order quantity exceeds 10,000 square meters, the order quantity has no marginal effect on the porcelain tiles.
2. The price of tiles is influenced by their color, as different colors require different production process formulas and, consequently, varying prices for color development additives. Generally, brick red has the lowest cost among all manufacturers, followed by yellow. Tiles that require solid black, blue, green, and other colors are significantly more expensive, with material costs exceeding 600 yuan. Shandong Yalejia Tiles typically achieve the same exterior effect using glazing, as is common among most domestic manufacturers. Prices for such colored tiles are usually at least 20 yuan per square meter higher than those for red tiles.
3. The quality rate of tiles produced by domestic tile manufacturers is not as high as that of tiles and floor tiles, which is closely related to the size of tiles. Taking Yalejia Ceramics as an example, the thicker the tile is, the more raw materials it requires, and the wider and longer the tile is, the greater the production difficulty and the lower the overall quality rate. Generally, the quality rate of T18 products can be 20% to 30% higher than that of T30 tiles.
So, someone might ask, does the shorter the tile, the cheaper it gets? Not necessarily. If the tile is designed too short, not only does the amount of auxiliary materials for construction increase, but the cutting loss also significantly rises, which can actually increase the cost of waste. Therefore, the standard size of tiles currently is 600mm to 1200mm in length and 300mm to 600mm in width. If the property owners are still worried about the impracticality of the secondary design for tile facades, they can seek out professional tile manufacturers to provide them with solutions.
4. The price of tiles and the design of tile panels are inextricably linked. Special finishes like grooved panels, brick-textured surfaces, and similar products not only increase the production difficulty during the tile manufacturing process but also lead to secondary losses. These types of designs are ones that domestic manufacturers are obsessed with but are reluctant to attempt. Generally, such design products are at least 30 yuan per square meter more expensive than standard tiles on the market. However, the uncontrollability in the production process can make this profit vanish.
5. Recommended domestic manufacturers skilled in producing non-standard panels include Yalejia, Xinjiali, TOB, etc. They boast extensive production and design experience, offering clients reliable services. The pricing for such products is typically not low. Different brands of ceramic panels also vary in price. Manufacturers like Yalejia, Ruigao, Xinjiali, TOB, and other domestic second- and third-tier manufacturers use similar production processes, but prices differ, mainly due to brand and service factors.
