The market for building energy conservation in new construction and energy-saving renovations of existing buildings is vast. Domestic and international experiences have proven that the external wall insulation technology system, with its clear advantages in building energy conservation and indoor environmental comfort, is a suitable approach. It is also a key development project of the Ministry of Construction, with great application prospects. However, the disparity in technical levels has led to the proliferation of counterfeit and low-quality products in the market. As such, our external wall insulation production enterprises, particularly the backbone and leading companies, should actively strengthen R&D efforts and investment, conducting research and work on aspects such as raw material performance, the principles of technical system composition, mechanical property mechanisms, and large-scale weathering experiments to improve the technical system and provide excellent and stable thermal insulation and heat preservation technologies and products.
Fire-resistant exterior insulation materials come in various types, categorized by the fire rating specified in Document No. 65:
Grade A includes non-combustible materials such as inorganic thermal insulation materials, including cement foamed insulation boards, vitrified micro-sphere thermal mortar, rock wool boards, glass wool boards, and more.
B1-rated flame-retardant materials are primarily organic, with large amounts of flame-retardant additives, such as polystyrene boards, extruded boards, phenolic boards, and polyurethane boards, etc.
B2-rated materials are flame-retardant materials, also known as flame-retardant materials, predominantly organic insulation materials, with the addition of appropriate flame-retardant agents.
If classified by thermal insulation effectiveness, extruded polystyrene, polyurethane, and phenolic panels offer good insulation; polystyrene boards, glass microsphere thermal mortar, and rock wool boards are average.
