Choosing between resin tiles and cement tiles for rural house construction is a tough call, as both are considered to be new-generation tiles. Although their descriptions seem particularly robust, it's still challenging to pinpoint their drawbacks. However, their advantages over traditional clay tiles are quite apparent, especially in terms of their lightweight nature and installation performance, which are unmatched by regular tiles. As for which one is better, it's simply a matter of personal preference. Below, we'll compare cement tiles and resin tiles to see which one the public deems superior.

One: Cement Tiles

When we mention cement tiles, we might think of the asbestos cement tiles from the last century. Of course, that's not what we're referring to as outdated tiles. Today's cement tiles are a shorthand for colored cement tiles, also known as colored concrete tiles, or simply colored tiles and cement-colored tiles. They are produced by blending cement, sand, paint, and other raw materials in a specific ratio, then molded and pressed under high pressure, hence often being referred to as cement tiles.

The characteristics of cement tiles include:

1. Overall Performance. Cement tiles are excellent for their high density and strength, offering great waterproof and frost-resistant properties. Additionally, they are cost-effective and have a long service life. Due to the larger area of a single tile, the weight per square foot is significantly lighter than traditional tiles, resulting in a higher efficiency in roofing.

2. Variety of Types. Cement tiles can be categorized into two major types based on production processes: rolled tiles and molded tiles. In terms of appearance, they can be divided into three main categories: S-shaped tiles, corrugated tiles, and flat tiles, potentially meeting the varying requirements and preferences of rural villa owners.

2. The color options are vast, as the production equipment and techniques for cement tiles vary greatly, allowing for almost limitless color choices. They can be produced in solid, single colors or in a blend of multiple hues.

3. Application Scope. Primarily used for multi-story and low-rise buildings, suitable for both rural residential houses and villas, as well as for waterproof and heat-insulating purposes in high-rise structures.

Resin Shingles

Resin tiles are a type of tile made by extrusion molding using ASA weather-resistant engineering resin and PVC wear-resistant resin. They can be broadly categorized into natural resin tiles and synthetic resin tiles. However, due to the scarcity of natural resin materials, they are rarely seen in today's market. Therefore, most of the resin tiles used in rural building construction are actually synthetic ones. Moreover, with the low threshold for resin tiles, a high amount of recycled materials, and the severe discoloration and aging of poor-quality resin tiles, you get what you pay for. Thus, when purchasing resin tiles, it's crucial to be extra vigilant.

The characteristics of resin tiles mainly include:

1. Overall Performance. Resin tiles offer stable colors, rich variety, strong soundproofing and insulation, as well as fire and corrosion resistance. Additionally, their installation is quick and convenient, thanks to the effective width of synthetic resin tiles being roughly 800mm or 960mm, which results in high roofing efficiency.

2. Eco-Friendly. Traditionally, for tiles, there is no need to emphasize environmental protection, as they have been highly eco-friendly for thousands of years. However, for modern building materials, eco-friendly options are becoming scarce. The composite resin tiles, which do not contain asbestos or radioactive elements and are recyclable, can still be considered a relatively eco-friendly choice.

3. Pressure and impact resistance. According to tests, the resin tiles can withstand a steel ball weighing 1 kilogram falling freely from a height of 3 meters without cracking, which gives us greater peace of mind when using them.

4. Thermal Insulation Performance. The thermal conductivity of composite resin tiles is approximately 1/5 that of cement tiles, therefore, in terms of thermal insulation, resin tiles are significantly better than cement tiles when compared.

Certainly, as previously mentioned, the advantages such as waterproofing, heat insulation, pressure resistance, and corrosion resistance are not particularly remarkable when compared to materials like glazed tiles. These are inherent capabilities of a standard tile. In fact, the primary advantages of these two types of tiles over traditional ones are cost savings and ease of installation. Would you agree that these are the main benefits?
