3. LNG Tank Fault Inspection and Handling 3.1 Daily Inspections


3.1.1 Level gauge and pressure gauge operation check.


3.1.2 Are the stop valves, regulating valves, and safety valves in normal working condition?

3.2 Regular inspections

4. Cautionary Notes


4.1 The vacuum valve is sealed before the product is shipped out. After the storage tank is delivered to the customer's site, the customer must ensure the protection of all pipeline valves during installation, especially the vacuum valve, and strictly prohibit any collision or opening of the vacuum valve.


4.2 Do not empty the liquid in the tank unless it will not be used for a long period, to prevent the inner cylinder from overheating and requiring recooling when refilling, which would unnecessarily increase losses.


4.3 Low-temperature liquid storage tanks can be used to store liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, and liquid argon, among other three liquids. However, when switching to another liquid, the original liquid must be completely drained and purged to a qualified standard before refilling with the new liquid.


Note:


1. The measuring full valve opens when the liquid is almost full, closes when liquid starts to flow, and stops the inflow. When filling for the first time, it should be filled from the top first, then from the bottom.


2. Open when draining residual liquid.


3. Release the venting valve when the container pressure is too high.


4. The container automatically opens when over-pressurized. Normally, only one is in use; if the working one malfunctions, the other is immediately activated to ensure the safety of the storage tank. The damaged safety valve is then repaired and inspected, and upon passing, is promptly reinstalled.


5. The inner cylinder automatically starts upon opening the pressure-increasing valve when pressure boost is required.


6. The level gauge is often turned off during normal operation.


7. Blast upon overpressure; immediate replacement required after blast.

Low-temperature LNG storage tanks are double-layered structures, with the inner tank storing low-temperature natural gas liquids, bearing the pressure and low temperature of the medium. The material of the inner tank is SS30408. The outer shell serves as a protective layer for the inner tank, maintaining a certain gap to form an insulating space, and bears the gravitational loads of the inner tank and the medium, as well as the vacuum negative pressure of the insulating layer. The outer shell does not come into contact with the low temperature and is made of container steel. The insulating layer is mostly filled with mica sand, with a high vacuum level. The evaporation rate of low-temperature LNG storage tanks is generally less than 0.2%.



Low-Temperature LNG Storage Tank Structural Design


1.1 Liquid Filling System


The filling is divided into top filling and bottom filling, equipped with a quick connector CN-1 and a four-way connector, which are connected to the top filling valve V3 and the bottom filling valve V2 respectively. Tubes and transition connectors are connected to the inner cylinder.


Tubes are selected in φ28×2 and φ45×3.5 sizes.


1.2 Drainage System


The valve V6 can directly drain fluid, connected from the bottom of the cylinder; the pipes are selected in φ45×3.5 size. V6 is chosen with 32gDA25C, with specifications of DN40 PN4.0.


1.3 Vacuum Measurement System


VR vacuum silicon tubes, used for measuring the vacuum degree of the tank's sandwich layer, connected to the exhaust pipe of the sandwich. When the vacuum degree of the vacuum layer exceeds 3Pa, the sandwich should be re-evacuated to ensure the vacuum degree of the sandwich and enhance the insulation effect.


1.4 Vacuum Insulation Panel System


VV vacuum vent, selecting CF-40 with DN of 40, for vacuum extraction; when the vacuum level reaches the required standard, close the VV to maintain the interlayer vacuum.


1.5 Level Measurement System


Two pipes are extracted from the upper and lower parts of the cylinder, with the top being the vapor phase and the bottom the liquid phase, connected together by the level gauge valve. L1 level gauge valve PS×Z-1, the gas connection is to the pressure gauge valve and pressure gauge, the liquid level measurement range is 0~6m water column.


1.6 Full Mouth Measurement


Install the pipeline based on the set liquid level. When the liquid level reaches the set value, it flows downward through the pipe to the level valve MV. When filling, this valve opens until liquid starts to flow out, indicating the tank is full. Close the valve. Use a 32gDA10C valve. Specifications: DN20 PN4.0.


1.7 Self-pressurizing System


The pressure booster valve V1 is connected to the PBC-1 supercharger, which uses the CFB03-00 model. It vaporizes a portion of the liquid flowing from the tank and introduces it into the inner tank, thereby increasing the pressure inside the tank, causing the liquid to be expelled under pressure.


1.8 Gas Venting System


When the pressure at the top of the container increases, gas is expelled through the pipeline, then through the vent valve E1, and into a one-way valve CV. Since gas can only flow out, a one-way valve is used to prevent backflow. A flame arrester is then connected because gas release and contact with air can cause sparks. The flame arrester is designed to prevent sparks from entering the inner tank with the gas, which could ignite and cause an explosion.
