What are the drawbacks of excessive collector in flotation reagents?

The dosage of flotation reagents is a critical aspect in the flotation process. It requires a thorough understanding of the flotation machine's process flow, as well as knowledge of different types of floating minerals. It is crucial to note that, regardless of the type of flotation reagent, excessive use of collectors can significantly impact the overall flotation efficiency.
Harm and Impacts of Over-Collectors
(1) The selectivity of the flotation process is compromised. When the捕收剂 dosage exceeds a certain critical value, there is a significant downward trend in the grade of the flotation concentrate. Even if the recovery rate may slightly improve, the overall performance loss is a masked one.
       (2) An excessive amount of collector makes it difficult to further select froth concentrate and separate mixed concentrate. In response to this excessive remedial measure on construction sites, additional adjustments are made to compensate, but since the agent's adjustments are not well-controlled and involve larger quantities, it often leads to an overabundance of bran in the return process, disrupting the flotation process and significantly reducing its effectiveness. Flotation indices can also become compromised, and this can easily lead to a vicious cycle. Moreover, due to the excessive amount of collector, the corresponding inhibitor needs to be increased as well. This not only involves waste agents but also tends to increase the content of toxic chemicals in the tailings, which can easily cause environmental hazards.
       (3) Excessive collector dosage can significantly reduce the floatability of certain minerals. It is believed that excessive fatty acid collectors can decrease the floatability of mineralized minerals. The reason for this phenomenon is that an excessive accumulation of collectors on the mineral surface forms a reverse layer, with polar groups facing outward, making the mineral surface hydrophilic.
       (4) Excessive collectors can also create large amounts of foam, making it difficult to dewater the concentrate and tailings, leading to challenges in concentration and filtration. The number of collectors has a significant impact on mineral flotation, as an excessive amount of mineral flotation can be a threat in many collectors. Of course, it also affects the operation of flotation equipment and the recovery grade of minerals.
