Methods and Precautions for Steel Structure Processing and Fabrication
Gansu Steel Structure Component Manufacturing and Processing
1) Steel Storage
Storage Conditions for Steel: Steel can be stored either outdoors or in covered warehouses. When stored outdoors, the site should be level and elevated above the surrounding ground, with drainage ditches around. When stacking, the back side of the steel cross-section should face up or out to prevent snow and water accumulation. There should be a height difference at both ends for easy drainage. When stored indoors in a covered warehouse, steel can be directly placed on the ground with wooden blocks underneath.
(2) Steel stacking requirements: To minimize deformation and rust of the steel, it is recommended to place wooden battens every 5 to 6 layers during steel stacking. The spacing should be appropriate to avoid any significant bending deformation of the steel. The battens should be aligned vertically, and a wide passage should be left between the stacks for transportation.
(3) Steel Identification: The ends of steel products should be marked with signs indicating the specifications, steel grade, quantity, and material inspection certificate number. The ends of steel products should be painted with different colors according to their steel grades. The signs on the steel products should be inspected regularly.
(4) Steel Inspection: Steel must undergo rigorous inspection procedures before being officially stored. Only steel that passes inspection may be processed for inventory. The main contents of the steel inspection include: verifying the quantity and types of steel match the order contract; ensuring the quality guarantee certificate of the steel corresponds with the markings printed on it; checking the specifications and dimensions of the steel; and inspecting the surface quality of the steel.
