Magnetic separators are equipment for selectively separating iron powder, commonly used in selection plants, sea sand iron extraction, and iron powder purification. The two most commonly used wet magnetic separators are the downstream magnetic separator and the semi-upstream magnetic separator.

1. The downstream magnetic separator features the slurry moving in the same direction as the cylinder's rotation or the product's movement. The slurry enters directly below the magnetic system of the cylinder from the ore feed box, with non-magnetic and weakly magnetic particles discharged through the gap between the two bottoms below the cylinder. Magnetic particles are attracted to the cylinder surface and, as the cylinder rotates, move to the weaker magnetic field at the edge of the magnetic system, where they are discharged into the concentrate tank via the ore discharge water pipe. The downstream magnetic separator is structurally simple, has a high processing capacity, and can be used in series with multiple units. It is suitable for the rough and fine separation of coarse-grained, strongly magnetic ores with particle sizes ranging from 6 to 0 mm, or for the recovery of magnetic heavy media.

2. The semi-countercurrent magnetic separator allows the ore pulp to enter the separation space in a loose suspension state from the bottom of the槽体. The movement direction of the pulp is basically the same as the direction of the magnetic force, thus the ore particles can reach the surface of the cylinder with a high magnetic force. Additionally, the tailings are discharged through tailing holes on the bottom plate, which maintains the level of the pulp in the tank by controlling the overflow surface height. These two features determine that the semi-countercurrent magnetic separator can achieve higher concentrate quality and metal recovery rates. Therefore, it is widely used in the rough and selective separation of strongly magnetic ore fines (less than 0.2mm). This magnetic separator can be connected in series for multiple units to enhance the grade of the concentrate.
