When many vegetable farmers consider building greenhouses, they often give up due to the cost. The truth is different. Let me tell you, multi-span greenhouses are much better than single-span ones, and as a result, the total floor area of greenhouses is increasing.
The advantages of using a multi-span film greenhouse are as follows:
1. Enhanced environmental control. As the air volume increases, the fluctuation range of indoor temperature decreases. The surface area of the small greenhouse's envelope is greater than the ground area. The surface area of the shell structure is the primary means of heat gain or loss, so temperature changes rapidly.
2. Low heating costs. The lower the ratio of the shell surface area to the ground area, the less heat loss. Moreover, as long as the entire greenhouse space is equipped with a heating system.
3. High land utilization rate. Multi-span greenhouse overcomes the land waste caused by the space between individual greenhouses.
4. The internal space is better utilized. The side walls of individual greenhouses are arched, resulting in low ground utilization. However, this issue does not exist in multi-span film greenhouses.
5. Easy to Expand. The extension of the greenhouse can be connected to the existing greenhouse by adding a few rows of drainage posts. The existing gable or side walls can be removed or retained as greenhouse partitions.
This partition is highly flexible. Greenhouses can be sectioned off with walls for managed zoning.
7. Enhance automation levels. Greenhouse spaces can be equipped with automatic sprinkler fire suppression systems, basket planting systems, hot water heating pipes, and shading systems.
8. Labor Savings. In greenhouses, workers do not need to walk back and forth as they would in a single greenhouse. Additionally, forklifts, trolleys, and monorail transport equipment can be more easily utilized, thereby reducing labor.
9. Greenhouses can protect crops from exposure to the cold outdoor air during winter. Some multi-span film greenhouses can be constructed to great heights to accommodate the space requirements of large trucks for transporting crops.
