The plastic geogrid is always laid perpendicular to the centerline of the subgrade.

Preparation for laying.

1.1 Foundation Treatment: First, level and compact the lower layer, ensuring flatness does not exceed 15mm and the compaction meets design specifications. Surface must be free of hard protrusions such as stones and boulders.

1.2 Installation Environment: Outdoor temperature above 5°C, wind speed below 4 levels, no rain or snow (except for special requirements or environmental conditions).

2. Laying and Joining Techniques:

2.1 Plastic geotextile格栅 should be laid on the leveled subgrade according to the designed width. It must be stretched straight and smoothly, tightly adhering to the subgrade without any twists, creases, or overlaps. The overlapping sections should be secured with U-shaped nails or connecting elements.

2.2 During the laying of the plastic geogrid, orient the main strength of the reinforcing material perpendicular to the embankment axis. Each sheet should overlap by at least 15 cm (lengthwise) and be secured with U-shaped nails or connectors, spaced 1.0 meters apart. The transverse overlap should be between 30 to 90 cm, and the overlap position should be fixed with U-shaped nails or nylon rope.

3. Quality Inspection of Laid Joints

3.1 After the laying of the plastic geogrid is completed, the first step is to perform self-inspection.

The subgrade is checked for flatness at 15mm intervals, with four inspections conducted every 200 meters.

2. Vertical overlap width: 15cm; inspection rate: 2%

3. Transverse overlap width ≥ 30m, inspected at a rate of 2%.

Joint seams must be offset by at least 50cm; 2% random inspection.

4. Refilling:

4.1 After the plastic geogrid material is laid, it should be filled with fill material promptly to prevent prolonged direct exposure to sunlight. Generally, the interval should not exceed 48 hours.

4.2 Filler Requirements: The stone material for embankment filling within 8 cm of the plastic geogrid layer should not exceed 6 cm in diameter. The laying of fill soil using a single layer of plastic geogrid should be done with a light bulldozer or a front-end loader, traveling along the embankment's axis for compaction. The embankment should be compacted to a thickness greater than 60 cm.
