The main function of the shelves in the Kunshan warehouse is storage. How to place them rationally to maximize space utilization has always been a research topic. Depending on the different warehouse structures, the layout methods can vary greatly. Here are some basic principles.

Half of the warehouse shelves are divided into vertical, inclined, and mixed layouts, with the vertical layout typically categorized into horizontal, vertical, and vertical-and-horizontal configurations. Let's discuss them one by one.

Storage Rack Arrangement Tips (Kunshan Rack Manufacturer)

The first layout is horizontal, with the shelf length perpendicular to the warehouse's side wall. Its main advantages include a long and wide main aisle, short secondary aisles, a tidy and aesthetically pleasing appearance, ease of inventory management, and also benefits in ventilation and lighting if used for warehouse design.

The second vertical layout refers to the lengthwise direction parallel to the side walls of the shelves. Its main advantage is the ability to arrange goods based on varying storage times and access frequencies; items with short storage times and frequent access can be placed on either side of the main aisle; items with longer storage times and less frequent access can be placed on the inside. Vertical and horizontal layouts refer to the horizontal and vertical arrangements within the same storage space, allowing for the combined advantages of both layouts.

The third type of tilt layout involves diagonally crossing the warehouse aisles through the storage area to maximize utilization, dividing the warehouse into different operational characteristics such as large storage volume and small storage area. Under this layout, the warehouse's structure becomes more complex, with numerous entry and exit points for goods and various pathways.

The 4th type of mixed layout involves the long sides of the goods being positioned not only perpendicular to the main operational aisle but also parallel to each other.

Here are some basic methods for shelf placement, or it may be more reasonable to target placement based on actual circumstances.
