The sludge dewatering machine separates the sludge with water content, which is then transported to the sludge mixing tank via sludge pumps. At the same time, a flocculant is added for thorough mixing and reaction. The flocculant is a high molecular polymer that, during the sludge slurry mixing, has the functions of bridging, net-capturing, and adsorbing electric charge neutralization. Subsequently, it flows into the belt sludge press filter's mud distributor. The sludge is evenly distributed over the gravity dewatering area, and under the bidirectional guidance of the mud rake and the force of gravity, the sludge is rapidly dewatered as it moves along with the dewatering filter belt.

Due to the longer gravity dewatering zone design, it achieves maximum gravity dewatering. The sludge flipped over enters a long trapezoidal pre-pressing dewatering zone, gently holding the sludge discharged from the gravity zone, forming a sandwich-like angular layer. It undergoes a sequential and slow pre-increasing pressure filtration, reducing the residual free water in the sludge layer to a minimum. As the two filter belts slowly advance, the distance between the upper and lower belts gradually decreases, and the middle sludge layer gradually hardens. Passing through the pre-pressing dewatering large-diameter filter roller, a significant amount of free water is removed, allowing the sludge cake to smoothly enter the extrusion dewatering zone and proceed into the "S" squeezing section. In the "S" squeezing section, the sludge is sandwiched between the upper and lower filter cloths. After passing through a series of squeezing rollers, the upper and lower filter belts, as they traverse the wave-shaped path formed by the interlocking rollers, alternately change their upper and lower positions, exerting shearing force on the held sludge cake. This force compresses and filters out most of the remaining water in the sludge, further dehydrating the sludge cake. Finally, a fiber scraper removes the dried sludge cake, which is then transported to the sludge storage area by a belt conveyor or a shaftless spiral conveyor.
