Under normal usage and maintenance conditions, the service life of FRP transparent skylights typically ranges around 10 to 20 years.
The lifespan is affected by various factors:
Material Quality:
Our FRP skylight panels feature high-quality raw materials such as high-performance coating, reinforced polyester, and glass fiber. For instance, the coating's UV resistance effectively blocks the damaging effects of UV rays on internal materials, thereby extending the lifespan of the skylight panels.
Poor quality of raw materials, such as unstable polyester composition or uneven distribution and insufficient content of glass fiber, can lead to aging and脆ification issues in the采光boards during use, shortening their lifespan.
Application Environment:
Climate Conditions: In mild climates with minimal temperature fluctuations, moderate humidity, and low UV radiation, the lifespan of FRP skylights is extended. Conversely, in extreme climates such as high-altitude regions with intense UV radiation or tropical coastal areas with high temperatures and humidity, the aging and corrosion effects on the skylights are more pronounced, potentially shortening their lifespan.
Chemical Environment: If skylight panels are installed in environments with chemical contamination, such as near chemical factories or electroplating plants, harmful chemical gases in the air (such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride) may erode the surface of the panels, accelerate the aging process of the material, and reduce their service life.
Installation and Maintenance Status:
Proper Installation: Reasonable installation is crucial for the lifespan of skylight panels. For instance, if the overlapping length of the panels during installation meets the requirements, is securely fastened, and sealed properly, it can effectively prevent water leakage and avoid loosening or damage caused by wind. If the panels are excessively bent or drilled improperly, causing internal damage to the material, it will make the panels more prone to issues during use and shorten their lifespan.
Regular Maintenance: Regularly cleaning the surface of the light panel and checking for damage, followed by timely repairs of minor injuries, can extend its service life. Neglecting maintenance can lead to accumulated dust and dirt on the surface, affecting its light transmission and potentially causing erosion by microorganisms. Additionally, unaddressed small cracks and other damages will gradually worsen, rendering the light panel unusable.
