Expansive perlite raw material deposits primarily consist of acidic volcanic eruptions. Since the Mesozoic era, China has experienced massive volcanic eruptions, resulting in the formation of expansive perlite deposits within the Jurassic, Cretaceous, Tertiary, and Quaternary systems. Expansive perlite deposits have been discovered in over a dozen provinces and autonomous regions, including Shanxi, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Henan, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangxi, Hubei, and Hebei, with significant reserves found in Shanxi. Larger deposits that have been developed include Xuyang Shangtai in Henan, Luoshan in Henan, Jianping in Liaoning, Jinyun in Zhejiang, Jiutai in Jilin, and Lingqiu in Shanxi.
