In our systems, to minimize circuit arcing and enhance the output of intrinsically safe circuits, we commonly employ transistor protection components or modules. These components are generally used in power outputs or circuits containing inductors, capacitors, or energy storage elements.
The protective components include:
One, flow control element
To prevent excessive current from failing to meet intrinsic safety requirements in circuits, a series transistor protection component can be used. Its function is equivalent to a current-limiting resistor or a variable current-limiting resistor, primarily limiting reverse short-circuit current or reverse signal transmission, and can also control the discharge of power sources, capacitors, and circuits.
Limiting Element
The voltage regulator diode is a commonly used voltage-limiting component. It is used to limit the high voltage between two points in a circuit, thereby improving circuit performance. For instance, it can limit the output voltage of a power supply and the high voltage across capacitor terminals.
III. Safety Precautions for the Use of Protective Components
1) In the anode circuit, in addition to achieving dual or triple protection for the parallel diversion protection elements, the wiring should also be secure. The coil is not allowed to operate when the diversion element falls off.
2) Inductive coils with分流protection components are placed in hazardous areas. In the event of an internal winding break, the parallel protection component fails to function, potentially causing dangerous sparks. Therefore, it is required that the分流component be sealed integrally with the inductive coil or housed within an explosion-proof enclosure (such as a flameproof or gas-tight enclosure).
