It also serves as an alloying agent in steel production. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel significantly enhances its strength, hardness, and elasticity, thereby improving the quality of the steel.
Silicon iron serves as a reducing agent in the production of low-carbon ferroalloys within the iron alloy industry. Adding silicon iron to cast iron can act as a nodularizing agent for nodular cast iron; it also prevents the formation of carbides, promotes the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite, and improves the properties of cast iron.
