Diesel locomotives for mining are powered by diesel engines and are transport vehicles with greater flexibility and maneuverability compared to battery-powered locomotives. They do not require a traction grid, AC power, or charging equipment, making them cost-effective and easy to maintain. When starting the diesel locomotive, place the gear shift lever in neutral, pull the brake lever, and press the throttle pedal. Upon the first start-up, open the hood, pump the hand oil pump until you hear the normal fuel injection sound. Turn on the main power switch, set the electric switch lock to the start position, and do not exceed 10 seconds for each start-up attempt. If it fails to start, wait a moment before retrying. After starting, rotate the switch lock to connect the ammeter. Monitor the ammeter to check if the charging is normal, and ensure the traction locomotive's lubrication oil pressure is correct. Start the traction locomotive at low speed for two to three minutes to allow the temperature to rise and all parts to be properly lubricated (oil pressure not less than 0.1MPa) before proceeding. Press the clutch pedal, shift the gear shift lever into the required gear, and pull the handle of the steering lever (push forward for forward, pull inward for reverse). If not engaged, release and re-press the clutch pedal. Generally, use 2nd gear for steep inclines and heavy loads, 3rd gear for moderate to light loads and downhill, and 1st gear for full loads and special conditions. Adjust the throttle, release the brake lever, and slowly release the clutch pedal for a smooth start.
