Air-cooled industrial chillers are typically integrated units, with the evaporator, compressor, and condenser combined. For chillers with higher power output, it's essential to consider the heat dissipation issue of the condenser fan during operation. When used in an air conditioning plant, the integrated unit requires an exhaust duct to channel the heat expelled by the fan outdoors.
The air-cooled industrial chiller can also be designed as split type, with the condenser placed directly outdoors (referred to as the outdoor unit), and the evaporator and compressor located indoors (referred to as the indoor unit). However, due to the heat absorption issues during the transfer of the refrigerant between the condenser and evaporator, the distance between the indoor and outdoor units is kept within 6 meters. Additionally, the copper pipes transporting the refrigerant require insulation. The power and control cables for the fan can be routed together with the copper pipes, allowing the air conditioning room to simply drill holes and pass through the pipes.
For industrial applications involving small flow and low heat dissipation air-cooled chillers, the integrated unit is typically used directly without the need to consider heat dissipation. For chillers with large flow and heat dissipation, the split type can be chosen.
Air-cooled chillers may experience slight variations in condenser cooling efficiency due to changes in external environmental and seasonal weather conditions. In contrast, water-cooled chillers, utilizing a water tower for heat dissipation, offer more stable performance. However, their drawback is the need for a water tower, which reduces their portability.
