Busway systems (简称busways) are composed of metal plates (steel or aluminum plates) as protective shells, conductive bars, insulating materials, and relevant accessories, forming a busbar system. They can be manufactured as a plug-in type busway with junction boxes installed at regular intervals, or as a power supply type busway without junction boxes in the middle. In the power supply systems of high-rise buildings, power and lighting lines are often separately installed. The busway acts as the main power line, vertically mounted on the wall inside the electrical shaft, running in one or more runs.
A busway, according to its application, typically consists of a starting busway, straight-through busway (available in both with and without socket versions), L-shaped vertical (horizontal) bend bus, Z-shaped vertical (horizontal) offset bus, T-shaped vertical (horizontal) tee bus, X-shaped vertical (horizontal) cross bus, variable capacity busway, expansion busway, related accessories, and fastening devices for busway.
Busbars can be divided into three types according to the insulation method: air-insulated busbars, dense-insulated busbars, and high-strength busbars.
High-strength enclosed busway (CFW). The manufacturing process is not restricted by sheet material, with the shell designed in a wavy trough shape, enhancing the mechanical strength of the busbars. The horizontal sections of the busbars can be produced up to 13 meters in length. The intentionally separated and fixed busbars, with a gap of 18mm between them, ensure good ventilation, significantly improving the moisture-proof and heat dissipation functions of the busway, making it particularly suitable for southern climates. The presence of gaps between the conductors reduces the temperature rise, thereby enhancing overload capacity and minimizing magnetic oscillation noise. However, it generates much higher stray currents and inductance compared to compact busways, resulting in a larger conductor cross-sectional area in the same specification comparison.
