Gabion mesh is an ecological lattice layout. Originating from the bamboo cages in China over 2,000 years ago, it has now successfully been applied in hydraulic engineering, road, railway projects, and embankment maintenance as a new style of ecological lattice layout, integrating new technology, skills, and materials. It effectively connects engineering layout with the ecological environment. Compared with some traditional rigid layouts, it has its own advantages, and has thus become a layout type for comprehensive environmental maintenance, including riverbed maintenance, slope management, prevention of mud and stone flows, and avoiding falling rocks. The English term for gabion mesh is "gabion."
The gabion mesh is made from high corrosion-resistant, high-tensile, and ductile low-carbon steel wire, possibly coated with PVC, and mechanically woven. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used complies with ASTM A 975 and EN10223 standards and varies according to engineering design requirements, generally ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 mm. The tensile strength of the wire must be no less than 38 kg/m², and the metal coating weight is typically above 245 g/m². The edge line diameter of the gabion mesh panels is usually larger than the wire diameter. The length of the double twisted section must not be less than 50 mm to ensure that the metal and PVC coatings of the twisted section wires are not damaged.
Product Usage Analysis:
This layout is suitable for slope support, foundation pit support, rock face meshing and shotcrete on mountains, slope vegetation (aesthetic improvement), and railway and highway barrier nets. It can also be made into boxes and padding nets, used for erosion control and maintenance of rivers, embankments, and sea dikes, as well as for net boxes used in reservoir and river diversion.
● Controlling and directing rivers and floods - The severe disaster of rivers is the erosion of riverbanks, leading to numerous floods that result in significant losses of life, property, and soil erosion. Therefore, the use of Geocell layouts as a solution to address these issues becomes crucial, as it provides **permanent maintenance** for riverbeds and riverbanks.
● Ecological River Treatment with Stone笼Mesh
Approaches to construction involve the stability of slopes and riverbeds. Therefore, the use of ecological mesh layouts, which have been the primary method chosen for the reconstruction of many natural rivers and the excavation of artificial channels over the past century, is employed. It provides effective **erosion control** for riverbanks or riverbeds and also has the function of controlling water flow and preventing water loss, especially in environmental protection and maintaining water quality, where it achieves **remarkable effects**.
Riprap Net Slope Protection
The ecological mesh layout has been a successful model for riverbank protection and slope foot protection, fully utilizing the advantages of the ecological mesh and achieving ambitions that other methods cannot accomplish.
