Gabion mesh is an ecological lattice layout. Originating from over 2,000 years of bamboo cages in China, it has now successfully been applied in hydraulic engineering, road, railway engineering, and embankment maintenance projects as a new type of ecological lattice layout, featuring new technology, skills, and materials. It effectively integrates engineering layout with ecological environment. Compared to traditional rigid layouts, it has its own advantages, and has thus become a layout type for comprehensive environmental maintenance, including riverbed maintenance, slope management, prevention of mud and stone flows, and rockfall avoidance. The English term for gabion mesh is "gabion."
The Gabion mesh is made by mechanically weaving high-corrosion-resistant, high-tensile, and ductile low-carbon steel wire, possibly coated with PVC. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used complies with ASTM A 975 and EN10223 standards and varies according to engineering design requirements, generally ranging from 2.0 to 4.0mm. The tensile strength of the wire is not less than 38kg/m², and the metal coating weight is typically above 245g/m². The edge line diameter of the gabion mesh panels is usually larger than the wire diameter. The length of the double-stranded twisted section must be no less than 50mm to ensure that the metal and PVC coatings on the twisted wire are not damaged.
Product Use Analysis:
This layout is suitable for slope support, foundation pit support, rock face mesh shotcrete on mountains, slope vegetation (aesthetic), and railway and highway barrier nets. It can also be made into boxes and pads, used for erosion prevention and maintenance of rivers, embankments, and sea dykes, as well as for net boxes used in reservoirs and river diversion projects.
● Controlling and directing rivers and floods - The severe disaster of rivers is the erosion of riverbanks, leading to numerous floods that cause significant losses of life, property, and soil erosion. Therefore, in addressing these issues, the use of Geoweb grid layouts has become one of the solutions, enabling the maintenance of river channels and banks to be **sustainable**.
● Eco-friendly stone笼mesh river management
Approaches to buildings involve the stability of slopes and river channels. Therefore, the use of ecological mesh layouts, which have been the primary method chosen for the transformation of many natural rivers and the excavation of artificial paths over the past century, is selected. It provides effective **erosion control** for riverbanks or riverbeds, and it also has the function of controlling water flow and preventing water loss, especially in environmental protection and maintaining water quality, where it exhibits **remarkable** effects.
● Gabion mesh slope protection & riverbank protection
The layout of ecological mesh has been a successful model in riverbank protection and slope toe stabilization, fully utilizing the advantages of the ecological mesh to achieve ambitions that other methods cannot accomplish.
