Gabion netting is an ecological grid layout. Originating from over 2,000 years of bamboo baskets in China, this modern ecological grid layout, characterized by new technology, skills, and materials, has successfully been applied in hydraulic engineering, road, railway projects, and embankment maintenance. It has effectively integrated engineering layout with ecological environment. Compared to traditional rigid layouts, it has its own advantages, and thus has become a layout type for overall environmental maintenance, including riverbed maintenance, slope management, prevention of mud and rock flows, and preventing falling rocks. The English term for gabion netting is "gabion."
The gabion mesh is made by mechanical weaving with high corrosion-resistant, high-strength, and ductile low-carbon steel wire, possibly coated with PVC. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used complies with ASTM A 975 and EN10223 standards, varying according to engineering design requirements, usually between 2.0-4.0mm. The tensile strength of the wire is not less than 38kg/m², and the metal coating weight is typically above 245g/m². The diameter of the edge line of the gabion mesh panels is usually greater than the wire diameter. The length of the double twisted section must not be less than 50mm to ensure that the metal and PVC coatings on the twisted wire sections are not damaged.
Product Usage Analysis:
This layout is suitable for slope support, foundation pit support, rock face mesh spraying on mountains, slope vegetation (aesthetic improvement), railway and highway barrier nets. It can also be made into boxes and mats, used for erosion control and maintenance of rivers, embankments, and sea dikes, as well as for containment boxes in reservoirs and rivers.
● Controlling and Guiding Rivers and Floods - The severe disasters caused by rivers include erosion that damages riverbanks, leading to numerous floods. These floods result in significant losses of life, property, and soil. Therefore, the use of ecological mesh layouts is one of the solutions for dealing with these issues, as it ensures the **sustainable maintenance** of riverbeds and riverbanks.
● Ecological River Treatment with Gabion Mesh
The approach to the construction involves the stability of slopes and riverbeds. Therefore, the use of ecological mesh layout, which has been the primary method for the reconstruction of many natural rivers and the excavation of artificial channels over the past century, is chosen. It provides effective **erosion protection** for the riverbank or riverbed, and it also has the function of controlling water flow and preventing water loss. Especially in environmental protection and water quality maintenance, it achieves **remarkable** effects.
● Gabion mesh slope protection and bank protection
The ecological mesh layout has proven to be a successful model for riverbank protection and slope foot protection, fully utilizing the strengths of ecological mesh and achieving ambitions that other methods cannot.
