Pneumatic gate valves are control valves that use compressed air as a power source, operating through an air actuator to drive the gate plate for opening and closing. The structure mainly includes the air actuator and the valve, where the air actuator drives the piston movement with compressed air, thereby actuating the gate plate for opening and closing operations.
Structural Features
The pneumatic knife gate valve is compact in structure and well-designed. Its key components include the valve body, knife gate (blade), pneumatic actuator, seals, and guide blocks. The knife gate features a blade-like design, offering excellent shearing capabilities to cut through fibers, pulp, particles, and other debris in the medium, thus preventing valve blockage. It boasts excellent sealing performance, utilizing metal or elastic sealing washers to ensure the valve maintains a good seal when closed.
Working Principle
The operating principle of the pneumatic gate valve is based on the drive of a pneumatic actuator and the vertical movement of the gate plate. When closing the valve is required, compressed air enters the pneumatic actuator, pushing the piston downward, causing the gate plate to move downward along the valve body's guide rail until the sealing surface of the gate plate is tightly sealed against the valve seat, thus cutting off the flow of the medium. Conversely, when opening the valve is needed, compressed air reverses into the pneumatic actuator, pushing the piston upward, moving the gate plate upward away from the valve seat, allowing the medium to pass through the valve.
Application Scenario
Pneumatic knife gate valves are widely used in various fields, including wastewater treatment, chemical production, and the food processing industry. In wastewater treatment, they are used to handle suspended solids and fibers, among other impurities. In chemical production, they are utilized to control and adjust the ratio of reactants. In food processing, they facilitate level control and material transfer. Additionally, pneumatic knife gate valves are suitable for pipelines that require cutting off or adjusting the flow of solids or thickening mediums.
