In some applications, such as in automobiles, tractors, and railway vehicles, square tubes are required for their lightweight properties.

Based on the process drawings, the secrets were simulated, and the deformation level of the material cross-section was displayed using cloud maps and curves, laying a solid foundation for further understanding the deformation rules during the rolling process.

    Large rectangular tube rolling demands higher technical expertise and process conditions. Appropriate reduction distribution is crucial. The incoming blank thickness for the BD rolling mill should be reduced as much as possible, which not only helps to minimize the deformation of the web and flanges during full-scale rolling but also facilitates the correct sizing of the flanges at the head and tail sections of the rolled parts.

    The preliminary reduction of the side plate on the all-steel mill's first pass requires increased rolling force, with the stand roll under relative pressure reduction; the intermediate pass achieves balanced rolling force between the horizontal roll and the stand roll; the last two passes involve the side plate under reduced pressure with lower rolling force, ensuring the flange elongation is greater than the side plate, resulting in tensile stress on the side plate.

    The reduction of web temperature can be approached from both rolling and cooling aspects. The geometric dimensions of the rolled piece should adhere to the positive deviation of the web thickness and the negative deviation of the flange thickness during rolling. Additionally, the web of square rectangular tubes requires a certain degree of reduction in the last two passes to compensate for the temperature drop by possibly forming deformation heat.
