Epoxy floor coatings, as increasingly common paint products, are widely used in infrastructure projects like industrial factories due to their unique aesthetics and functionality. Among them, antistatic floor coatings stand out for their long-lasting conductive properties, making them more and more suitable for applications in electronics and electrical manufacturing workshops, warehouses, server rooms, electrical control rooms, printing plants, textile factories, and other areas requiring antistatic or explosion-proof flooring. There are two types of antistatic floor coatings: solvent-based and solvent-free. Due to the need to combine decorative effects with special antistatic functions, they are more challenging to master compared to other technologies. They have now become the technical core for many flooring companies. To master this technology, one must first understand the selection of conductive materials based on different flooring requirements. Choosing the right material is the first and most crucial step to success.

Epoxy anti-static flooring classifications

Anti-static flooring can be divided into two main categories based on the system: ordinary anti-static flooring and self-leveling anti-static flooring. The thickness of the ordinary anti-static coating is typically about 0.1 to 0.2mm (applied in two coats), offering a low cost with solvent emissions during application. Its surface flatness and wear resistance of the coating are not as good as the self-leveling type. In terms of conductivity, the thinner coating is easier to meet the requirements. The self-leveling anti-static surface layer is 0.7mm or more in thickness, has no solvent emissions during application, is easy and quick to install, boasts a smooth and attractive finish, has a longer wear resistance of the anti-static layer, and the process is more complex, with a slightly higher cost.

Epoxy anti-static flooring is divided according to standards: it is further subdivided into dissipative types RS106～109Ω and conductive types RS<106Ω due to varying requirements. Different requirements are made based on the application. With these detailed requirements and classifications, it is necessary to choose different conductive materials as processing raw materials and design a rational technical and economic formula system according to different situations.
