Epoxy flooring

There is a type of epoxy flooring called water-based epoxy, which is a type of epoxy not treated with waterproofing for damp environments and is commonly used in underground parking garages.

Waterborne epoxy resin refers to a stable dispersion system obtained by dispersing epoxy resin in the form of particles or droplets in a continuous aqueous medium. Since epoxy resin is a linear structure thermosetting resin, it must be mixed with a waterborne epoxy hardener before application to undergo a chemical cross-linking reaction at room temperature. Once cured, the epoxy resin changes from its original soluble and fusible properties into an insoluble and non-meltable three-dimensional network structure, exhibiting excellent performance. Waterborne epoxy resin coatings offer numerous advantages over solvent-based epoxy coatings, including strong adhesion to a wide range of substrates, excellent corrosion and chemical resistance after curing, minimal shrinkage, high hardness, good wear resistance, and superior electrical insulation properties. Additionally, they have excellent environmental performance, containing no organic solvents or low levels of volatile organic compounds, thus not causing air pollution and meeting current environmental protection requirements. They are truly water-based, using water as the dispersion medium, are cost-effective, odorless, non-flammable, and have greatly improved safety during storage, transportation, and use. They also have excellent operability, with good application properties for waterborne epoxy resin coatings, allowing for direct cleaning of application tools with water, curing at room temperature and humidity, reasonable curing times, and ensuring high cross-linking density. This is superior to the waterborne acrylic coatings and waterborne polyurethane coatings commonly used.
