How to Properly Choose a Embossed Plate?

The embossed version is generally categorized into two types: engraved and etched, with various materials such as steel, zinc, and copper available. When faced with different products, how should we choose the appropriate embossing plate? Keep in mind, a well-designed embossing plate can greatly enhance productivity for an automatic deep embossing die-cutting machine! A good embossing plate not only saves on machine wear and extends the machine's lifespan but also easily produces a striking three-dimensional effect.

To ensure the pattern's texture is coarse or fine; if coarse, the embossing effect can be easily achieved through machine pressing. In this case, there are no special requirements for the process or material, but the plate should be thicker, ideally over 3-4mm, and the raised and indented textures should be deeper to enhance the effect. Additionally, if the bottom mold is paired with the corresponding resin board, which we refer to as positive and negative plates or male and female molds, the result is even better. Zinc etched plates, paired with the appropriate resin boards, are commonly used at this stage.

If the pattern texture of the product is finer, achieving the embossing effect through machine pressing is quite challenging. In this case, the material of the embossing plate must be sufficiently hard, and it is recommended to choose steel. A腐蚀版 is advisable, with a plate thickness of 2-3mm and an etching depth exceeding 1mm. If possible, opt for a matching resin board for use together. Such a matched embossing plate will make it easier to achieve a good embossing effect.

When it comes to machine selection, standard pressure die-cutting machines or modified embossing machines with heating functions are not suitable. This is because the deep embossing process truly requires specialized machinery that can exert a tremendous amount of pressure. Standard machines may either fail to achieve the deep embossing effect due to insufficient pressure or, even if they do, have a short lifespan, potentially breaking or becoming unusable within a few years under the high load and pressure. Therefore, it is essential to purchase a professional-grade, high-pressure die-cutting machine specifically designed for thermal embossing.
