The quicklime desiccant acts as a double insurance. When both moisture vapor and carbon dioxide are present in the environment, a chemical reaction occurs. That is, until the carbon dioxide is completely absorbed, it can be considered that the quicklime powder is not working to absorb moisture and prevent dampness. Once the carbon dioxide is depleted from the system, only adverse reactions will continue, and the moisture will be absorbed.
Generally, it is recommended to place lime powder in wooden or paper boxes, or in small cloth bags filled with an appropriate amount of lime, tie them securely, and place them in all damp corners of the room. Its drawbacks include: slow moisture removal, and when the lime has adsorbed to its saturation point, it loses its moisture-absorbing function. It requires regular monitoring and replacement.
