Difference Between Protective Guards and Machine Tool Protective Guards

The Difference Between Protective Shells and Machine Tool Protective Shells The press-fitting stud, also known as the press-fitting screw or nut stud, is a fastener used in sheet metal, thin plates, enclosures, and cabinets. It features one end in a hexagonal shape and the other in a cylindrical form, with a recess between the hexagonal edge and the cylindrical part. The internal shape is threaded. The stud is pressed into a pre-drilled hole in the thin plate (the hole diameter is generally slightly larger than the cylindrical outer diameter of the press-fitting stud) using a press, causing plastic deformation around the hole. The deformed portion is forced into the recess, securing the stud to the plate, creating an effective fixed internal thread on the thin plate. Press-fitting studs are categorized into four types based on material and internal thread design: SO type for general-purpose steel, SOS type for stainless steel, BSO type for blind holes in general-purpose steel, and BSOS type for blind holes in stainless steel, each suitable for different environments. There is no specific national standard for press-fitting studs. Early producers came from the United States, and after being introduced domestically, they gradually formed today's industry standards. Most domestic producers are from regions like Suzhou, Jiangsu, and Dongguan, Guangdong. Stretch threading, also known as pull threading or flanging threading, is mainly applied to sheet metal parts. Due to the thinness of sheet metal, threading directly can result in short threads and easy disengagement. Therefore, a bottom hole is first drilled into the sheet metal (determined by the thread specification), and then a specialized stretching mold (usually on a standard press) is used to create the thread. Simply put, the hole is made concave, increasing its height (wall thickness), and then threading is performed to achieve a longer thread length. For a 4MM thick sheet metal bend, is it necessary to cut a slot at the bend angle? If so, how large should it be? In the sheet metal industry, there are cases like this where reducing the R-radius or having a very small side dimension while the bend size cannot be achieved easily leads to slippage. A工艺缝, or press line, is created before bending, which is simply using a bending die to score the bending line of the sheet metal, forming a V-shape. The specific size is related to the plate thickness, angle, and material, but the difference is not significant. For your size, a total depth of 1.8-2.0 millimeters is sufficient, and then proceed with the bend. This method results in a very small R-radius, allowing for small bend sizes, but it is prone to breaking and not recommended! The purpose of cutting a slot at the bend is to reduce the R-radius. If a certain R-radius is acceptable, there is no need to cut a slot. To eliminate the R-radius, a slot must be cut. A slot is required if the R-radius is less than half the plate thickness. No slot is needed if the R-radius is allowed to be greater than half the plate thickness.
