Important Installation Notes for Generators
All generator installations must be carried out by qualified professionals.
The intake and exhaust ports of the generator should be free of obstructions to maintain unobstructed airflow.
Ensure the foundation or support structure for the generator is sufficiently strong to prevent collapse or deformation.
4. The double-bearing generator should be equipped with an elastic coupling, at which point the concentricity and parallelism of the two couplings should be carefully measured. For large batches of assembled units, it is advisable to add an intermediate flange. One end of the flange connects to the stop on the generator end cover, and the other end connects to the stop of the prime mover, which can greatly simplify the work of aligning the straight.
5. The single-bearing generator should be equipped with elastic steel strips. Align the elastic steel strips with the flywheel of the prime mover, and match the stop grooves of the generator's front cover with those on the flywheel housing of the prime mover, thereby achieving alignment between the generator and the prime mover.
It is recommended to use bolts and hard washers with a tensile strength of 10.9 or higher for connecting the flexible steel strips to the flywheel. Elastic washers should not be used, as they may cause damage to the steel strips due to increased stress.
Important Notes for Generator Use
1. Generators must be matched with circuit breakers that have overcurrent protection.
2. Generators should operate strictly at their rated speed. Low-speed operation of generators is not permitted, as it can increase the excitation current and lead to easy damage to the generator.
3. After the generator undergoes transportation, storage, installation, and matching processes, it is necessary to conduct mechanical and electrical inspections before operation to ensure its reliability.
Before starting the engine set and the engine unit, it is mandatory to complete the pre-operation preparation for the engine, adjusting the governor to ensure the generator speed does not exceed 120% of the rated speed.
Improper adjustment of the engine governor can lead to generator overspeed, causing damage to the rotating parts of the generator.
5. The correct procedure for starting and stopping a generator involves gradually increasing the prime mover's speed to the rated speed, then progressively adding load, and finally reducing the load to zero before stopping. Failure to do so may lead to demagnetization and other malfunctions in the generator.
Prior to maintenance, the engine's starting circuit should be disconnected, as well as the closed loop between the power grid or other generators. A warning sign should be placed on the circuit breaker to prevent accidental closure.
