What is Hot-Dip Galvanizing

Galvanizing is a surface treatment technique that involves applying a layer of zinc to the surface of metals, alloys, or other materials for aesthetic and rust-preventing purposes. The primary method used is hot-dip galvanizing. Zinc is soluble in both acids and alkalis, hence its classification as a diamagnetic metal. In dry air, zinc undergoes minimal changes. In humid air, a dense basic zinc carbonate film forms on the zinc surface. Zinc has a standard electrochemical potential of -0.76V, and as a positive coating for the steel matrix, it is mainly used to prevent corrosion. The protective properties of the coating are highly dependent on its thickness. After passivation, dyeing, or applying a protective finish, zinc coatings can significantly enhance their protective and decorative qualities.
