Common processing methods for Lühui stone

    2024-04-15

The processing method of Luhui stone involves the technology of granite processing. Initially, the Wulian Red granite is cut into slabs, followed by flame spraying on the Wulian Red machine-cut surface to remove a 0.5 to 1 mm surface layer. The processing of Wulian Red granite through this method reveals the stone's natural color, characterized by its rustic, robust, and strong sense of nature. The use of liquefied gas and oxygen to burn through a high-temperature flame creates an uneven expansion effect, resembling the texture of lychee skin, which offers excellent anti-slip properties. In use, Luhui stone may experience surface dulling, wear, and color darkening due to various external factors in the environment such as ultraviolet light, oxygen, moisture, acidic gases, dust in the atmosphere, and external forces. This necessitates a re-coloring and polishing treatment.

Luhui granite, a natural granite, is commonly used as construction material for municipal projects. Its surface features fine lines and cracks, known as "chicken feet," and may exhibit less than ideal sheen due to variations in the formation process. To enhance the luster of Luhui granite and minimize these fine lines and cracks, various methods are often employed. A common practice in domestic Luhui granite processing factories is to apply a layer of wax to the polished surface. This not only boosts the finished product's surface sheen but also reduces the chicken feet patterns. This waxing method provides a surface covering for Luhui granite, which requires minimal drying and is simple and cost-effective in terms of processing equipment and wax material. However, this can pose issues for consumers and installers. The main concern is that wax, as a surface protective material, blocks the capillaries and fine lines on the Luhui granite surface. When attempting to apply protective measures, the wax on the surface can act as a significant barrier, preventing the protective layer from penetrating into the granite. This can lead to protective failure and an increased risk of subsequent damage. Moreover, when using a soft-bottomed, wet-laying method to install Luhui granite, especially with materials like light-colored granites, the risk of localized water stain damage becomes almost unavoidable after the base absorbs moisture. Therefore, attention must be given to these issues during the protection of Luhui granite.
