Box-type steel column structure

Because of its shape resembling a large iron box, it is named as such. It is generally used as beams or columns in steel structures.

The specific drawings may vary and change. Some are like the "#" shape, with all four sides extending out, while others are like the "mouth" shape, and of course, there are also semi-sealed versions. Therefore, it is essential to have drawings for processing box-shaped columns, and some may require additional stiffeners or plates inside the columns. Some people also use large square rectangular tubes in place of box-shaped columns, but due to production capacity limitations, the thickness often does not meet the requirements. Most box-shaped columns are submerged arc-welded, with one of the three seams requiring special welding, which can be quite challenging.
