The development of automotive chains has opened up a new cutting-edge research field in mechanical design and mechanical transmission disciplines. The early failure of rolled components and the premature wear of chains pose significant technical challenges yet to be resolved in the industry. Meanwhile, the automotive chain system will further expand into high-speed applications, with increasing levels and depths of research.

Timing chains and oil pump chains are increasingly being adopted by the latest generation of car engines. There has also been development in car engine chains. However, due to the high-speed performance limitations of domestically produced roller chains, as of now, the timing chains and oil pump chains for car engines such as FAW Jie Da, Shanghai Santana, Fenglong Fukang, Beijing Qinchuan, and Guangzhou Fengshen still rely on imported foreign counterparts.
