High sensitivity to detect lateral and hole-like defects with eddy current flaw detector

    2025-01-14

The eddy current flaw detector offers rapid inspection speeds and high sensitivity to detect lateral and hole-like defects, with certain detection capabilities for dents and peeling on both inner and outer surfaces. The eddy current flaw detection equipment is suitable for surface and near-surface inspections of welded pipes such as carbon steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, copper pipes, aluminum pipes, and titanium pipes, and can replace hydrostatic testing.

Eddy current testing is a significant application of the eddy current effect. When a detection coil carrying alternating current is brought near a conductive test piece, the test piece will induce eddy currents due to the coil's magnetic field. The size, phase, and fluidity of the eddy currents are influenced by the test piece's conductivity, and the counteraction of the eddy currents will change the impedance of the detection coil. Therefore, by measuring the change in the detection coil's impedance (or the induced voltage on the coil), one can determine whether the tested material has any defects.

The eddy current flaw detector is a new generation of eddy current equipment designed for on-line and off-line metal flaw detection. It utilizes advanced digital electronic technology and microcomputer technology, offering simple and convenient operation. The detector provides users with a reliable and stable operational platform, featuring high sensitivity and reliable specifications.

The eddy current flaw detector measures the amplitude and phase of the impedance change, which indirectly indicates anomalies or defects in the material on the surface and near the surface of the workpiece. Changes in electromagnetic effects caused by these variable differences generate electrical signals. After amplification and conversion, the signals drive alarm or display devices, triggering alarms and sorting, detecting defective products.
