Common materials for sheet metal processing:
Galvanized Steel Sheet SECC
SECC is made from standard cold-rolled steel coils, which, after undergoing degreasing, acid washing, electroplating, and various post-processing procedures on a continuous galvanizing line, become galvanized products. SECC not only possesses the mechanical properties and similar workability of general cold-rolled steel sheets but also boasts excellent corrosion resistance and a decorative appearance. It is highly competitive and substitutable in the markets for electronic products, home appliances, and furniture. For instance, SECC is commonly used in computer cases.
2. Standard Cold-Rolled Steel SPCC
SPCC refers to steel billets being continuously rolled into steel coil or sheet material of the required thickness by a cold rolling mill. The SPCC surface has no protective coating and is prone to oxidation when exposed to air, especially in humid environments where oxidation occurs more rapidly, resulting in dark red rust. Paint, electroplating, or other protective measures should be applied to the surface during use.
3. Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Sheet SGCC
Hot-dip galvanized steel coils are produced by cleaning and annealing semi-finished products after hot rolling or cold rolling, then dipping them into a molten zinc bath at approximately 460°C to coat the steel sheets with zinc. The coils are then tempered, leveled, and chemically treated. SGCC material is harder than SECC material, has lower ductility (avoid deep drawing designs), thicker zinc coating, and poorer weldability.
4. Stainless Steel SUS304
One of the widely used stainless steels, containing Ni (nickel), is more corrosion and heat resistant than steel containing Cr (chromium), boasts excellent mechanical properties, has no hardening after heat treatment, and is inelastic.
5. Stainless Steel SUS301
Chromium content is lower than SUS304, with poorer corrosion resistance, but after cold working, it can achieve excellent tensile strength and hardness in stamping processes, offering good elasticity. It is commonly used for leaf springs and EMI shielding.
