Considerations When Choosing a Milling Machine Manufacturer
For most customers, choosing a milling machine manufacturer involves some expertise. When placing an order, manufacturers must clearly specify equipment parameters, metric/imperial systems, power supply, voltage, and frequency, as well as the accessories included and the color of the milling machine. Given the diverse range of types and varying standards within the milling machine industry, what should users consider when selecting a milling machine manufacturer? 1. Mold Type -- There are many types of molds, so it is essential to clearly identify the type of mold the customer has ordered.
2. Machining Dimensions – First, select based on the size of the workpiece being machined. For example: For complex contour milling tasks on medium to small workpieces, a smaller milling machine with a worktable width under 400mm can be used. For large, complex parts, a larger milling machine is required, typically with a worktable width ranging from 500 to 600mm.
3. Machining Precision Requirements -- Select a milling machine based on the precision requirements of the workpiece to be machined. Currently, China has established precision standards for milling machines, with a professional standard in place for vertical sliding table milling machines. Additionally, the manufacturing precision of milling machines has a certain reserve. The standard specifies that the linear motion coordinate positioning accuracy of the milling machine is 0.04/300mm, the repeated positioning accuracy is 0.0025mm, and the circular milling accuracy is 0.035mm. The allowable tolerance values of the standard are reduced by about 20mm. Therefore, from the perspective of workpiece precision, general milling machines can meet the processing needs of most parts, while for workpieces with higher precision requirements, it is recommended to fully utilize precision models.

4. Machining Features -- Select the milling machine for workpiece features. For machining areas such as rectangular planes and uneven height steps, a point-to-straight line system milling machine is used. Additionally, based on the requirements of the component machining, a dividing head and a rotary table can be added to a standard milling machine, allowing for the processing of spiral grooves, blade parts, etc.
5. Bulk Processing Features of Workpieces -- For large-scale purchases, the use of dedicated milling machines is recommended. For small batches with high demand, CNC milling machines are highly suitable. This is because many workpiece fixtures and programs can be stored for repeated use within the batch.
