Check valves are used in pipeline systems, primarily to prevent reverse flow of the medium, prevent the reversal of pumps and their driving motors, and to prevent the release of media within the containers. They can also be used on pipelines that supply auxiliary systems where the pressure may rise above the main system pressure. Check valves, depending on their material, are suitable for pipelines transporting various media. Once installed on a pipeline, they become part of the fluid component of the complete system, and the operation of their valve discs is affected by the transient flow state of the system they are in; conversely, the closing characteristics of the valve discs also exert an influence on the fluid flow state.
