Dutch Brick Laying Process and Precautions

1. Bread brick sub-layer treatment: Use a chisel or wire brush to clear away any loose mortar or fallen dust from the sub-layer, then sweep the loose soil clean with a broom.

2. Locate elevation marks: Based on the horizontal standard line and design thickness, pop out the surface elevation control line on the parapet walls around the perimeter.

3. Brick Laying: Arrange the bricks on the roof surface according to the spacing required for the brick size, marking the placement positions. Additionally, a cross control line and partition lines should be drawn on the base layer. The brick layout must meet design specifications; in the absence of specific design requirements, it is advisable to avoid generating offcuts smaller than 1/4 of the edge length.

4. Laying bonding layer mortar: Before laying, the base must be moistened and brushed with a plain cement slurry or bonding agent. Then, lay and mix the 1:3 cement mortar evenly, with a thickness of 25mm.

5. Tile Installation: Place the tiles on the bonding layer and level them with a rubber hammer. Then, pick up the tile, pour an appropriate amount of cement slurry on the dry mixed material, and apply a thin layer of cement paste (about 1mm thick) on the back of the tile. Place the tile back on the leveled dry mixed material, and use a rubber hammer to ensure it is level and square according to the control lines for height and alignment.

6. Maintenance: Watering maintenance should begin within 24 hours after the brick surface layer is laid, and the maintenance period must not be less than 7 days.
