Glass Fiber Geogrid

Glass fiber geogrid is primarily made from alkali-free, untwisted coarse glass fiber yarn, woven into a mesh structure material through specific weaving techniques. To protect the glass fiber and enhance overall performance, it undergoes a special coating process, forming a new, excellent geosynthetic base material.

The main component of glass fiber is silicon dioxide, an inorganic material with stable physical and chemical properties. It boasts high strength, high modulus of elasticity, excellent wear resistance, and superior cold resistance with no long-term creep; good thermal stability; and a reticulated structure that locks and restricts aggregates, enhancing the load-bearing capacity of asphalt mixtures. Due to the special modified asphalt coating on its surface, it exhibits dual composite properties, combining the superior characteristics of glass fiber with the compatibility of asphalt mixtures, significantly improving the wear resistance and shear resistance of geogrids.

The laying surface of the glass fiber geogrid should be relatively flat. After the laying layer has passed inspection, to prevent longitudinal skewing, first mark white lines or hang strings along the width of the laying layer. Then, begin laying and use nails to secure the ends of the geogrid (8 nails per meter width, evenly spaced). After securing the ends, pull the geogrid forward slowly using a laying machine, pulling and straightening it manually every 10 meters. Continue this process until a roll of geogrid is laid, then lay the next roll in the same manner. After laying a roll, use a roller compactor of 6T-10T to roll over the entire length from the starting point in the forward direction. (If laying on the middle layer or leveling layer, a steel roller compactor is recommended; if the geogrid is laid directly on the concrete road surface, a rubber roller compactor is more suitable.) For subsequent laying, use the roll length as the section length for laying. After filling the section with geogrid, check the laying quality again. Then proceed to lay the next section. When laying the next section, overlap the geogrids by 10-15 cm and secure them with nails or wooden wedges before continuing to lay the next section forward. Repeat this process, maintaining the same operational requirements.
