I. Features and Uses
The ZSN4 series DC motor is a specialized series variety developed by our company based on the Z4 series DC motor, tailored to the operational characteristics of the main drive of cement rotary kilns.
This series of motors features an octagonal structure with high stator space utilization. The stator yoke is in a lamination design, capable of withstanding pulsating currents and rapid current changes. The motor is compatible with three-phase full-bridge rectifier power supplies and can operate without an external DC smoothing reactor for extended periods. The innovative F-grade insulation structure ensures stable insulation and excellent heat dissipation. Designed and manufactured specifically for the unique operating conditions of cement rotary kilns, the motor's starting torque can reach 2.5 times its rated torque. The cooling method utilizes pipeline ventilation or air-water coolers, allowing the motor to operate safely and reliably in harsh environments with high dust levels.
This series of motors conforms to the national standard GB755-2000 "Rated values and performance of rotating electrical machines" and can also be evaluated according to the international standard IEC34-1. The installation dimensions of the motor, except for the "B" dimension, comply with the IEC72 international standard.
Section 3: Motor Performance
1. The data in the technical data table should operate under the following conditions:
a. Altitude not exceeding 1,000m
b. Initial cooling medium temperature for the motor, not exceeding 40℃
c. Motor for continuous duty (S1)
d. The armature circuit of the motor and excitation can be powered by a stationary rectifier power supply, and is also adaptable to be powered by a DC generator.
e. Motors with pipeline ventilation cooling must meet the specifications in the following table for air volume and pressure; the air intake is located on the non-rotor side end cover of the motor.

2. Motor insulation grade is F.
3. The standard voltage for the motor is 440V, with excitation voltage at 180V. Other voltage and excitation voltage levels can be derived according to customer requirements.
4. To ensure reliable insulation of the excitation system, a discharge resistor must be paralleled across both ends of the excitation winding when the excitation circuit is disconnected to prevent self-induction voltage. At standard excitation voltage, its value is approximately 7 times the resistance of the excitation winding (at cold state). When the excitation voltage is higher than the standard voltage, the discharge resistor can be less than 7 times; conversely, it should be greater than 7 times.
5. ZSN4-225 base motor with series winding, other base numbers are equipped with compensation winding.
IV. Structural Features
The cooling method of the motor and the protection grade of the housing are listed in the following table:

2. Motor Mounting Type: Horizontal base mounting (IMB3). Motors can be manufactured with dual shaft or single shaft extension. Single shaft extension motors can be equipped with speed sensing elements (tachogenerator, photoelectric encoder) and other relevant accessories at the non-drive end.
3. The motor stator winding can be equipped with an overheat protection element as required.
V. Order Instructions
Please specify the motor model, power, voltage, speed, structure type, excitation voltage, terminal box, position, and the models and quantities of accessories required for assembly (speed sensing elements, overheat protection elements) when placing an order. If a humid and hot type is needed, please add "TH" after the original model number.
