Definition and Working Principle

A forged steel gate valve is a valve in which the closing element (gate plate) moves vertically along the centerline of the passage. When the valve is closed, a sealed space is formed between the gate plate and the valve seat, preventing the flow of medium; when the valve is open, the space between the gate plate and the valve seat is opened, allowing the medium to flow freely. The opening and closing of the valve is achieved by rotating the valve stem, which drives the gate plate to move up and down, controlling the flow of the medium.

Structure and Classification

Forged steel gate valves are mainly composed of the valve body, gate plate, valve stem, valve cover, and sealing surface. They can be classified into wedge gate and parallel gate valves according to the sealing surface configuration. However, forged steel gate valves also have some drawbacks:

Sealing Surface Friction: Relative friction between sealing surfaces during the opening and closing process can easily cause abrasion, requiring high operating torque. It also tends to produce scratches on the gate and valve seat sealing surfaces, leading to valve leakage.
