Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Storage Tanks, also known as LNG tanks, are specialized low-temperature liquid pressure vessels designed for the storage of liquefied natural gas.

Liquefied Natural Gas Storage Tanks are classified as third-category pressure vessels. They are manufactured and inspected in accordance with the national GB150-98 standard for steel pressure vessels and GB18442-2001 standard for low-temperature vessels, under on-site supervision by the National Technical Supervision authority.
The Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) storage tank is a double-layer vacuum-insulated low-temperature storage tank, consisting of an outer cylinder, inner body, insulation layer, thermal insulation material, root valve, liquid level gauge, vacuum pump valve, and in/out liquid pipes.
The outer cylinder is made of 235B or 345R steel, while the inner cylinder is made of Austenitic stainless steel.。

Advantages of LNG
Compared to LPG and CNG, the advantages of LNG as a substitute automotive fuel are as follows:
(1) Clean and environmentally friendly. As an automotive fuel, LNG must first be vaporized by a vaporizer and then combusted completely within the engine in a gaseous state. Due to the high methane content, accounting for 90% to 99% of LNG's composition, the exhaust emissions contain very low levels of harmful substances, making it extremely clean and environmentally friendly.
(2) High calorific value per unit price. Compared to other fuels, LNG offers a lower price and higher calorific value per unit. The low-temperature characteristics of LNG can reduce the temperature of the mixed gas and the combustion temperature, improving the engine's thermal efficiency. This effectively ensures that LNG burns more completely and thoroughly in the engine than LPG, CNG, diesel, and gasoline. Additionally, with its high energy density and high storage efficiency, LNG is more conducive to transportation and has a wider range of usage areas. Therefore, LNG has strong economic and applicability advantages.
(3) High safety. LNG fuel tanks permit working pressures up to 1.586 MPa, with the factory-set operating pressure range for natural gas being 0.1759 to 1.4074 MPa. Natural gas offers advantages over CNG, with a lower likelihood of hazardous incidents. Automotive LNG tanks commonly use double-layer metal vacuum powder insulation or double-layer metal vacuum wrapped insulation structures, providing high thermal insulation efficiency and allowing for extended periods without venting. LNG has a lower density than air at atmospheric pressure, so even in the event of a leak, it will quickly disperse into the air. The risk of spontaneous combustion is lower compared to natural gas leaks. Additionally, the composition of LNG is relatively stable, with its uniformity and simplicity in composition being beneficial for determining design parameters like engine compression ratio, which helps avoid the adverse effects of explosive combustion of components like ethane and propane. As an alternative automotive fuel, LNG ensures smooth engine operation, reduces noise pollution, and can save over 50% on engine maintenance costs compared to conventional fuels.
