Insulating vermiculite bricks, made from expanded vermiculite and binder, are thermally insulating products with regular shapes. They include cement expanded vermiculite products, water glass expanded vermiculite products, and asphalt expanded vermiculite products, among others. The density of vermiculite bricks is 0.4-0.8g/cm3, with a thermal conductivity at room temperature of 293-502.4J/(m·h·℃) (70-120cal/(m·h·℃)). The compressive strength is less than 2.45MPa, and the water absorption rate is approximately 6%.
Vermiculite bricks are thin-walled hollow structures with low strength and melting points. Their refractoriness and high-temperature properties are lower than those of other lightweight refractory materials, making them unsuitable for load-bearing areas and medium to high-temperature insulation materials. Their operating temperature range is between 800-1100°C. Vermiculite bricks are widely used in roof treatments and sound insulation applications.
