Due to the limited projection length of the hammerhead from the hammer disk, regardless of the size of the material, it is generally knocked off according to the projection length and then further crushed. Therefore, the feed particle size of this crusher can reach 2/3 of the rotor diameter (or width). Larger pieces in the incoming material that can be crushed in one blow do not need to be supported on the hammer disk, which is a distinct difference from the rapid hammer crusher's crushing of medium-grained ore.

In this crusher, the final crushing occurs between the hammer heads and the impact plate, toothed plate, and screen bars. The particle size of the final crushing depends on the density of the hammer heads, linear velocity, shape of the impact plate and toothed plate, the size of the same-circulating arc of the final crushing belt, the gap between the hammer heads and these components, and the screen gap width. It is independent of the hardness of the material being crushed and the degree of material filling in the crushing chamber; it is composed of centrifugal force generated by the exciter and the dynamic cone. Adjusting the mass of the eccentric block of the exciter, changing the eccentric distance, and altering the speed of the exciter can provide the required crushing force for any working condition. Due to the absence of the limitation of curved screen bars, it allows for dense hammer arrangement, resulting in a superior final crushing effect compared to slow-speed hammer crushers. Swing-type pulverizers can also adopt this principle. Therefore, the material blocks are subjected to pre-set crushing forces under strong inertial vibration conditions, ensuring the desired density of the material layer and enabling particles to be subjected to pressure from multiple directions, achieving crushing within the layer. This results in the advantages of a large feed particle size, a small discharge particle size, and the ability to combine coarse and fine crushing in a single machine.
