What should be noted when applying high-temperature epoxy resin flooring during the rainy season?

Generally, we recommend applying epoxy resin flooring above 5°C, as low temperatures and ground temperatures can severely affect the curing of the epoxy coating, leading to a decline in the film's hardness, strength, luster, and other properties, and increasing the likelihood of dust contamination. The relative humidity of the air should be less than 5%. Excessive humidity can cause the film surface to turn white, decrease luster, and even result in sticky, non-curing phenomena.

Several issues should be noted during the construction under the summer heat.

One issue we mentioned earlier is the curing problem: This type of epoxy flooring coating application often occurs due to summer rain and high humidity, which can cause the amines in the curing agent to precipitate and form white fogs on the coating surface. Therefore, before application, the environmental humidity should be measured; if the relative humidity is greater than or equal to 8%, it is not suitable for application. Additionally, due to the high temperatures in summer, the curing speed increases, so the ratio of the curing agent is relatively reduced, or high-temperature application should be avoided as much as possible. It is recommended to use it during the early and late hours of the day when the application is split.

Two concerns pertain to pinhole issues: After the epoxy resin flooring dries, in some cases, there are numerous pinholes on the film surface, severely affecting the brightness and decorative effect of the floor. One reason is that the film is too thick, and another is that during summer, the high temperatures cause the film to dry too quickly, leading to pinholes on the floor surface.

Three key issues: Circular holes and dents may occur during the installation of epoxy flooring. The primary cause of this phenomenon is the presence of oil stains and uneven distribution of filling materials in the base material of the epoxy flooring. Therefore, during construction, it is essential to address the subgrade issues and ensure cleanliness in the mixing, construction equipment, and tools, paying attention to avoid the mixing of impurities.

When temperatures are excessively high during summer, the epoxy resin flooring should be mixed and used as soon as possible, typically within 30 minutes, to prevent condensation.
