How to Handle Belt Conveyer Belt Slippage

Belt conveyors often experience slippage due to various reasons during operation. Once slippage occurs, it severely affects the normal use of the equipment, impacting our production work. 1. Adjust Belt Tension

If the belt is loose and causing slippage, adjust the belt tension. If it cannot be adjusted, replace it directly.

2. Replacement of Tail Drum Bearings

If the tail drum bearing or the upper and lower idler bearing is severely damaged, slipping issues may arise. Therefore, it is necessary to replace the tail drum bearing.

3. Replace belts or adjust tensioning devices

If the belt has worn and hardened due to long-term use, or if the tension is too low, consider replacing the belt or adjusting the tensioning stroke to increase tension. For belt conveyors with heavy hammer tensioning devices, add counterweights to address slippage, but do not overdo it to avoid placing excessive tension on the belt, which can reduce its service life.

4. Adjust the tightening device or re-sulfurize

If the initial tension of the belt is too low, causing slippage, the tensioning device needs to be adjusted to increase the initial tension. Additionally, if the tensioning stroke is insufficient, the belt slippage issue can be resolved by either re-vulcanizing or increasing the tensioning stroke.

5. Added rosin powder

If the friction between the drive roller and the conveyor belt is insufficient, or if there is water on the belt or the environment is humid causing slippage, you can add rosin powder to the roller and blow it in using a blowing equipment. It is important to note that rosin powder should not be added by hand to prevent personal accidents.

Increase weight distribution

Add counterweights when the belt conveyor slips, continuing until the belt stops slipping. This method is suitable for situations where belt conveyors, after experiencing overloading due to other malfunctions and being shut down, require manual cleaning to reduce the startup load.

7. Add Belt Oil

If the belt slippage is due to belt aging, you can add some belt oil after adjusting the tension of the belt.
