Scaffolding is a crucial element in the construction industry, characterized by its ease of installation and dismantling. Incorrect scaffolding assembly and a lack of safety considerations have led to numerous accidents. Nanjing Weian Scaffolding Co., Ltd. is here to educate everyone on the proper installation methods and safety requirements for scaffolding:
How to Build a Scaffold
1. When setting up suspended scaffoldings with support rods, it is crucial to control the load and ensure stability. Begin by constructing the inner frame, extending crossbars beyond the wall, then securely connect diagonal rods to the projecting crossbars. Subsequently, build the suspended section, lay the scaffold boards, and install railings and toe boards around the perimeter. Set up a safety net below to ensure safety.
2. Wall Connector Setup
Based on the building's axis dimensions, one is set every three spans (6 meters) horizontally. Vertically, they should be placed every 3 to 4 meters, with each point staggered to form a plum blossom pattern. The method of constructing the wall connectors is the same as that for a ground-level scaffolding.
3. Vertical Control
During the construction, strict control over the verticality of the segmented scaffolding is required; the allowable deviation in verticality is:
4. Scaffold Installation
The bottom layer of the scaffolding should be fully covered with thick wooden planks, with subsequent layers filled with lightweight perforated scaffold planks made from pressed thin steel plates.
5. Security Protective Facilities
All levels of scaffolding should be equipped with guardrails and toeboards.
The exterior and bottom of the scaffolding are enclosed with a dense safety net, ensuring necessary passages between the scaffolding and the building.
Connection between the verticals of scaffolding and the cantilevers (or longitudinal beams).
150~200mm long steel pipes should be welded on the beam (or longitudinal beam), with an outer diameter 1.0~1.5mm smaller than the inner diameter of the scaffold's uprights. Connect them using clamps, and simultaneously install 1~2 sweeping rods at the bottom of the uprights to ensure the stability of the structure.
Safety Requirements for Scaffold Construction
1. Scaffold erection or dismantling personnel must be professional scaffolders who have passed the assessment under the "Regulations for Safety Training and Assessment of Special Operations Personnel" and obtained the "Special Operations Personnel Operation Certificate."
Wear a hard hat, safety belt, and non-slip shoes during operation.
During heavy fog, rain, snow, or when wind speeds exceed 6 levels, no high-altitude work on scaffolding is permitted.
4. When erecting scaffolding, the construction should be done row by row, span by span, and step by step in accordance with the requirements for forming basic structural units. Rectangular perimeter scaffolding is recommended to be extended outward from one of the corners. Ensure that the erected sections are stable.
