As long as within the pressure and load-bearing capacity range, the effective filtering area of the pressure filter can be increased several times over. This is the crucial role of the filter plate in a pressure filter, and also the reason why filter plates are indispensable in all pressure filter equipment.
Another function of filter plates is to establish an intermediate storage for filter cake. The filter plates of the pressure filter are initially designed with an inward concave shape, which allows for space to store the volume of the filter cake when intercepted by the filter cloth. The blind spot at the bottom is also designed to increase friction with the filter cake, enhancing its support. Thus, filter plates play a storage and support role for the filter cake.
