As long as it stays within the pressure and load-bearing capacity, the effective filtering area of the pressure filter can be increased several times over. This is the crucial role of the filter plate in a pressure filter, and it is the reason why filter plates are indispensable for all pressure filter equipment.
Another function of the filter plate is to establish a storage space for the filter cake. The filter plates of the press filter are designed with an inward concave shape from the outset. This design is to provide space for the volume of the filter cake when intercepted by the filter cloth, and the blind spot at the bottom is to increase the friction on the filter cake, enhancing its support. Thus, the filter plate plays a role in storing and supporting the filter cake.
